I think you have a great outlook! I always used to get the jerks until I really had my guard up then I met someone with a high guard up to. Not being desperate is key to finding "the one". Also blowing a few guys off before finding the right one will add value to u- don't settle for
less.
But you know I don't have everything all figured out. My relationship is going into a long term stage... The newness is not so condensed but he is so content and sweet to me! I think it is the loss of newness = the gain of friendship! An older lady once told me "you get married by being his best friend". We have alot of memmories already and I foresee more and more as the weeks/months rollby! Advice is always good to get online for you girlies that are single I suggest googleing hard to get tips! It helped me too

Scott, it is nice to know the side of men in a relationship, thank you. I've known men as hard to open type of person and reading this somehow helped me understand the reason behind the silence. Although its a good thing that i am not a type of gal who would want to change my partner but just simply want to show him that i am happy for what he is. After all, that's the reason why i fell for him.

Nice post. Personally, I don't think guys need to do much at all to maintain relationships, besides continuing to act like you did when you first started dating (being spontaneous, fun, etc). Girls are good at planning and maintaining stuff. Another thing I think is key is not trying to fix all the girl's problems/constantly help her out. She needs to figure out things on her own sometimes, and that's tough, since guys always want to fix things. Just my 2 cents..
