Who Is Scott Lee?

Indeed, just who am I? I have written over 150 different articles here at ScottFreeThinking.com, wrote my now freely available eBook Principles of Social Attraction, and am the majority owner of a privately held production company in Houston, Texas called Barton Ct. Productions Inc. Since 2006, I have been the sole author of this website and have made it my goal to provide people with resources to further their own self growth however they choose to do so and no matter what their goals are. I am someone who loves to study “success” and successful people. If you have not yet done so, be sure to watch my intro video here!

After graduating high school in May of 2006, I have attended college full time and will soon graduate with a BS in Psychology from the University of Houston. I hope to attend graduate school to pursue either an MS in Counseling or a PhD in Clinical Psychology while also studying human development, sociology, neuroscience, and many other related fields. Throughout the past four years I have taken on personal students, given speeches on topics, run various side businesses, and have had a blast making really great friends, meeting lots of new people, and dating some pretty crazy women!

It seems I am also quite notorious to some as being a “know it all” and sometimes during conversation or debate people will get defensive when I cite scientific evidence or do not let them get away with spilling out bad information. I consider myself to be an almost brutal rationalist, am an ongoing student of science, and also dream of one day being something of a “mental inventor” who can design tools for people to use in resolving emotional issues, improving their intelligence, bettering their finances, and overall: just improving every aspect of their lives. To get a sense of my daily routine, feel free to read about it.

I believe in practical, rational solutions to problems and despise pop culture phenomena and lame trends that seem to permeate the American populace and ultimately harm others. Stuff like Tarot card reading, the Law of Attraction, astrology, or cheap magic tricks have been proven to be bogus! I will not waste my time or my students’ time teaching techniques, methods, or ideologies that just cannot be proven to be effective (the sad thing is that on this website you can go find old entries of mine where I was actually experimenting with some of that crazy stuff myself!). Instead, I stick to reliable solutions that have been proven scientifically valid or at the very least have strong pieces of evidence supporting their effectiveness.

I cover every sort of topic related to personal development you can probably think of on this blog, with topics ranging from the detail oriented to the abstract, from the down to earth to the far out there, and beyond. I hope you enjoy your time here and please remember to sign up for my mailing list before you leave, also from the right hand sidebar – every single week I try to send out great information to help others in every area as well as point them in the direction of good tools that will assist in their development.

A number of other side projects are also under works by me at the moment, including a new book, an online comedy series, an effort to design a new government framework, and various financial goals. Keep track of all my projects at my other website, ScottLee.name.

I am also a Student Affiliate member of the APA (American Psychological Association) as well as APAGS (American Psychological Assocation of Graduate Students) but will be withdrawing my membership from the organization at the end of 2011 because of my fundamental disagreement with their ideological values and political contributions. For about a year throughout much of 2010 I served as a Research Assistant for the Self and Relationships Research Group at the University of Houston. I have now completed all the work for my undergraduate level psychology major and am pursuing a double major to complete a Bachelors of Science in Psychology & Sociology.

I am currently working on new projects related to political activism based on my own interpretation of the philosophy of freedom, Long Term Survival Theory, and have made public appearances in support of Ron Paul’s 2012 Presidential campaign, ending the private Federal Reserve central bank, and have become a member of Young Americans for Liberty and their local chapter at the University of Houston.

Some would say I’m kind of a strange guy as I am an atheist, a libertarian, a scientist, a film maker, an actor, a writer, a student of psychological and sociological theory, political science, a paleo/primal eater, a student of nutrition, a survivalist and emergency preparedness planner, and much more. My interests hinge upon how the world works, why it works that way, and the logic of how we go about deciding what to do in that world. I believe in the importance of standing up for what you believe and interacting with the others in your community. I support the growth of individuals in their own self-awareness and scientific understanding of evolutionary logic. Throughout the wide variety of subjects, thoughts, and topics that I cover I want to challenge you to consider these ideas with an open mind and a warm heart. Welcome to ScottFreeThinking.com!
