Design Your Life, Like a Paint Brush
Written by Scott Lee - Released August 4th, 2007Recently I took a look at what I had accomplished at this point in time as opposed to six months ago, and truthfully it was not really all that different. There have been slight gains here and there, slight losses, and so forth, but really - I am pretty much the same old Scott. Sure, I have finished a number of writings, written a number of songs, recorded a number of audio segments, and many other bits and pieces. But financially, I have not really progressed beyond where I was before in a dramatic way, I have had only slight increases. But here is what I do know that is definitely significant in one way: I have learned what to do and what not to do in many areas. Life is an ongoing learning process, and the only way to excel beyond where you were before is to try out new things, which I have been doing to the utmost. Much of my actions are based on a vision of a life that I desire to have in a certain period of time, and I think all of us typically create these sort of visions throughout the course of our lives. Whether or not we actually achieve them is another story.
As we grow up, things tend to be a little less extravagant. We no longer desire to be rock stars, because we do not see that as really being that feasible. We no longer desire to be Hollywood actors, because we can now see what a ridiculous amount of competition there is for that area. So what do we settle for? Next, we often settle for things that are something of a step down on the fame table, or perhaps we are shifted back and forth from social influences to be lawyers and doctors. Some of us manage to be doctors and lawyers, but there are a vast number of people that do not make it through the societal filter of paper work and high grade scores. Countless different faces from my high school class have ended up at local jobs, working at car dealerships, some even gaining an actual career in McDonald’s, becoming managers and such. Another friend of mine has been working his way up through Target. Hell, one of my friends has even opted to stay home and play videogames all day. All without college education, but do they desire to go to college? Of course! Their dream jobs continue to slip away, and what’s more - it is really based on their own actions that all of this happens.
By the time you reach a certain age, it is said that you have experimented enough with your own personal identity to have a clear understanding of who you are and what you are supposed to be, as well as your role within society. This is what is considered to be the norm, but I really think it tends to speak in generalities. My oldest brother did not know what he wanted to do with his life in his mid 20’s, and here he is now approaching his early 30’s and he still does not seem to know. Myself? I have a fairly certain idea, but the only question is whether or not I will actually have the capacity, the energy, the networking potential and the overall distinctive style needed to get there. My personal goals are to create a successful apparel company, a successful production company, and to dramatically increase the traffic to this blog to the point where I have a solid income stream that allows me to be jobless.
The truth is that your life really can be designed from the ground up, the way you see fit. Recently on the radio I was listening to a few people talk about something they call “quantum light meditation,” and really - it all seems like a recap of the seven hermetic principles. What are the seven hermetic principles? Well, it is kind of astounding, but the seven hermetic principles are actually one of the key places these personal development guru’s have drawn the idea of the law of attraction from. Now, I’m not going to describe every single one of these in absolute full detail, but I will give a brief description of each one just to give you a general idea of what we are talking about here. Astonishingly, these principles seem to be the core ideas on which almost all of the major philosophies, especially those geared toward self improvement, are based.
The Seven Hermetic Principles
1. Mentalism
The Principle of Mentalism says that “all is mind.” What this means is that the universe is ultimately an undefinable, indescribable, infinite, living mind. In correlation with the teachings of Ernest Holmes and Religious Science, this says that, basically, God is a universal, infinite consciousness, and all of reality is the creative expression of that consciousness. If that confuses you, just wait, because that is only item number one on our list!
2. Correspondence
Correspondence, to me, is basically describing the “ripple effect.” The hermetic principles tend to be geared toward a model of subjective reality, and this one is certainly no different, yet it does seem to have a sort of objective notion of mechanics to it. Whatever you do is directly or indirectly connected to everything else in the world. What actions you take on one thing will inadvertently affect another.
3. Vibration
Perhaps the most confusing, the Principle of Vibration is the place where the Law of Attraction is derived. The Principle of Vibration states that nothing ever stops, and that everything in the universe is in motion. And when vibrational frequencies are close to each other, that often tends to mean that they are a part of the same thing. Hence, if your mental vibrations are in resonance with that of what wealth resembles then you will soon find yourself being wealthy. Some debate whether or not this has been interpreted correctly in regards to the Law of Attraction, while others state that thoughts and the theoretical are no exception.
4. Polarity
This is a philosophical doctrine that states that everything has an opposite. Say hello to those human beings who fall apart when they even try to walk and likewise to human beings who seem like they’re nearly indestructible. (Can you say…Unbreakable?)
5. Rhythm
Everything carries with it a “pendulum” movement. The universe operates on a sort of timing oriented schedule.
6. Cause and Effect
For everything cause, there is an effect. For every effect, there is a cause. The universe operates under Law.
7. Gender
Each and everything in the universe carries with it traits of masculinity and femininity. This means that, yes, in a sense, even inanimate objects carry with them characteristics and traits of different genders. Energy itself carries masculine and feminine energy, but not purely in the humane sense of the word - gender does not exist exclusively to animals or human beings. Gender is a concept and a status.
The Big Picture and Putting It Simply
If you look at the original places these ideas first showed up, it would probably be frighteningly confusing. For me, I know that whenever I first got into the area of philosophical thought in general it was quite an intimidating place. But I genuinely believe that much of what we’ve been shown about philosophical thought and thought on an ‘intellectual’ level has been wrapped up in unnecessary vocabulary purely as something of a literary guard, and even as a marketing plan. After all, if we were handed something like the Law of Attraction directly with a simple set of words - “thoughts become things,” or even, “what you see is what you believe,” it would be a little insulting to many, and what’s worse - most would not understand the significance of a profoundly simple statement that carries with it such a magnitude of truth.
A lot of the power behind you being able to design your own life, you being able to create your own reality, lies in simple concepts, simple tools, and practical effort. None of it is very complicated, and the overall message behind bringing virtually anything into existence is again, just plainly simple. And while I would like to sit here and tell you that your ability to do so lies solely in the Law of Attraction, or LoA, or solely in pragmatic tools used for accelerative learning, or even getting tips for the stockmarket - the truth is that no one thing is going to get you ahead of the crowd, folks. It is something that must be done in an enriched effort on the part of yourself.
Another method in conjunction with what I was hearing on the radio about quantum light meditation is “holographic creation” of your reality, where essentially instead of simply visualizing you’re mapping things out piece by piece down to some of the finest detail imaginable. But again, guys, I do not want anyone out there who is seeking to improve their own personal lives to read too much into these concepts. They are just concepts, the simple piece of knowledge that must be learned behind all of the mumbo jumbo is that human potential is limitless.

what a great thoughtful post. When I look back 6 months I think I’m pretty much in the same boat as you “I have learned what to do and what not to do in many areas” life is a learning experience for us all. some of us live and learn some don’t do either but the bottom line is we have the creative power within to create the lives we desire learning to use it is the thing lol

Marenda,
Absolutely! Knowing what you want is one thing, but the step after that is learning how to get there! Hope you’re doing well.
