Today’s Question: What’s the first step to starting lucid dreaming?

Answer: Many people are fascinated with lucid dreaming, and for good reason. The best and most common way to get started with the process is to start asking yourself, “Am I dreaming?” frequently, and, in conjunction with that, start questioning reality on a frequent basis. The whole basis for gaining lucidity in your sleep is to make a habit to question whether or not you’re actually awake so that when that day finally does come when you ask and you are dreaming, you’ll realize it and voila! Another thing to do at the exact same time you’re forming this habit is to start a dream journal. Every time you wake up, write down any tiny detail you can remember from the night before. If you wake up in the middle of the night, try to remember your dreams then too. Write down anything you can remember, even if the details are vague, or just feelings by themselves. After just a week or so of writing down your dreams, you will probably find there is more to write down than you can bear! This gets the process of dream recall started so that you can take note of your actions and remember your experiences.
