Top 10 Personal Development Tools & Practices
Written by Scott Lee - Released April 16th, 2007A lot of people over time have asked me what I use to do so well. While many think that my abilities are natural, and that’s flattering - it really could not be the whole truth. For every single thing that I have completed or achieved it has taken hard work, dedication, and overcoming obstacles of various different kinds.
1. The PhotoReading Whole Mind System
There is a reason that I am placing PhotoReading at the number one spot in this top 10. PhotoReading, with its advanced way of processing printed information and plowing through large volumes of books rapidly, is the ideal solution for a better way of reading. I’ve been PhotoReading myself for 4 years, and as I have personally put the system to practice, I solidly attest to its effectiveness.
2. Paraliminal/Ultimate You Library
Paraliminals are dynamic and unique. The name ‘paraliminal’ sort of sounds like ’subliminal.’ The problem with subliminals is that they are fake, fake, and fake - they just do not work at all outside of a placebo effect. Paraliminal technology is different in that you’re conscious, you can hear everything in it, and it’s based off a number of proven technologies. Its language is inspired by NLP(Neuro Linguistic Programming), and the sounds themselves are, in stereo, essentially speaking to two sides of the brain. If for nothing else than uplifting and motivating audio sessions, Paraliminals have made an impact on my own life.
3. Proper time management & organization
This is a given. Time management, to anyone wanting to lead a successful life, is a critical element and an important tool to get down. One book I recommend on this subject is Getting Things Done: The Art of Stress-Free Productivity by David Allen.
4. Image Streaming & general meditation - The Einstein Factor
There are dozens of different powerful meditation methods out there to use. I think when it comes to meditation, visualization, and things of that nature it is usually best to get out there and try different things, see what works for you. For some, it is the more physical applications like QiGong or yoga. For others, it is purely the mental and introspective like Image Streaming itself, which I mention in Understanding the Symbolism of Dreams. Image Streaming allows you to withdraw valuable information by describing and recording the mental imagery that goes on in your mind in the form of what might be considered daydreams and idle thoughts.
The Law of Attraction is a powerful concept, LoA for short, this is a principle that says like thoughts attract like thoughts, as well as the physical events that are manifested from those thoughts. “Whatever you think about and thank about, you bring about.”
When you’re feeling down, there is no use in holding onto your emotional luggage. Let go of the problems you’re having and move on. Click the title for #6 right now and you’ll be taken to the article, Overcoming Emotional Attachment, which has become the single most popular piece of writing on this site since its start.
Lucid dreaming has been talked about numerous different times throughout the posts in this blog, and will probably continue to be talked about. Lucid dreaming is the state of being aware that you’re dreaming, while you’re dreaming. Once in the lucid dream state, you are given the ability to explore the depths of your inner mind, solve problems, and experience any form of reality that you wish. You can even experience what it’s like to fly.
8. Proper Health - Diet and Exercise
There is a lot to be said for proper eating and exercise. While this is the only item that I do not link to on this top-10 list, it should not be considered of any less importance. There are dozens of great sites out there on great health through what you eat and how you exercise, but the real key is finding the one that works for you.
9. Steve Pavlina’s Shifting Identity/Character Improvement
Natural Brilliance is quite simply a beautiful system of living to follow, and what’s perhaps best about it - it’s not a system at all. Much of it might seem like common sense to some, but to those who follow it precisely it may let on more wisdom than one would originally presume upon reading the book or listening to the audio course.
